July 16th, 2013 Int'l Nelson Mandela Day - 67 minutes for someone else.
Rationale for Nelson Mandela Day
President Nelson (Madiba) Madela is currently in critical condition in a Pretoria hospital.
"Nelson Mandela has fought for social justice for 67 years. We’re asking you to start with 67 minutes."[3]
"We would be honoured if such a day can serve to bring together people around the world to fight poverty and promote peace and reconciliation," according to a statement issued on Mandela's behalf.[4]
July 16th is Madiba's 94th birthday. International Nelson Mandela Day celebrates the courage of a man, coming from 27 years of an unjust jail term - to community service and by providing a miracle in the form of a raging Peace in South Africa.
"Nelson Mandela has fought for social justice for 67 years. We’re asking you to start with 67 minutes."
